Lincoln Elementary Principal’s Message |

Welcome to Lincoln Elementary School. Lincoln is a unique school committed to the success of all students! We are an award-winning elementary school that believes in collaboration among certified staff and classified staff, students, parents, and community members. What makes us unique is our core belief in how children learn. Children have the opportunity to understand their learning styles. There are “eight ways of being smart. (visual, spatial, musical, kinesthetic, linguistic, logical-mathematical, naturalist, interpersonal and intrapersonal). We believe that awareness of these intelligences enhances self-esteem and appreciation towards learning.
It is an honor to serve this community. I have an open door policy and am happy to meet with you and talk about your concerns and needs. Please email me at: kmiller@d75.lake.k12.il.us.

Don't let the winter blah's darken your spirit! We have bright lights and an energy that can light up Mundelein! Our Lincoln children need your help! Volunteering provides a myriad of opportunities to children and parents. First and foremost, volunteering demonstrates to our children how much we value education. Research documents that children learn the importance of giving back to their community from their parents. When you volunteer, your children see your commitment to their learning. Their self-esteem rises. Actions speak louder than words. Our children need you! Dads, Grandparents, Moms and Friends, please consider giving two hours of your time a year to build our Linocln School community and make a didfference in children's lives. After all, children are the gift we send into the furute. It does not matter what kind of car you drive, or home you live in, what counts are the ways we help one another become strong. You are important in the lives of your students. Lincoln is an amazing caring community dedicated to your children's thinking and learning. Let's make our village stronger today! We need you! Weekly Parent Update - November 9, 2009
Lincoln Elementary School has settled into deep level critical thinking and writing in all of our classrooms. Our exemplary Faculty looks forward to sharing your child’s yearly learning goals with you during our TRIAD conferences. Goal setting is a lifelong skill where children learn to organize their efforts and track their successes. Our hope is that we will all join together to encourage our children to jump the hurdles of learning and find inner strength from their accomplishments and achievements. Setting goals connects to our belief that children are the future leaders of the 21st Century. Our goal is to help children develop self-efficacy. There is nothing we cannot do with hard work and support from those around us. We look forward to seeing you this week at conferences. Remember, we will be selling pizza and ice cream in the multipurpose room. Have dinner with Lincoln families! Our community is the friendliest and most welcoming place in Mundelein!

Our fifth grade students discovered teamwork counts! Traversing the ropes course, canoeing, archery and outdoor games unified two elementary schools' fifth grade level cohorts. Our outdoor education program at Camp Duncan this week forged new friendships, and new learning as Mechanics Grove students and Lincoln Students raised the bar by exceeding even their own expectations. Cheers to our fifth grade faculties, parents, the Educational Foundation and Camp Duncan staff for making this dream come true.

One of the unique tenets of Lincoln school is Multiple Intelligences, a term coined by Dr. Howard Gardner from Harvard University. He postulates that several different types of intelligences are inherent within every individual: interpersonal, intrapersonal, visual spatial, logical mathematical, musical, linguistic, bodily kinesthetic, and naturalist. Enjoying discovering their Multiple Intelligences at Lincoln Elementary School. today, our children left amazed about heir special talents and strengths. Our goal is to empower our children to be learners and leaders. As our children collect their products for their end of the year portfolios, they will revisit their multiple intelligence charts to compare their growth areas.
