Mechanics Grove School was built in 1970 with an addition being constructed in 1990.  The school serves 500 students in grades 2-5, and has a staff of 40 teachers.  The school is named for the original village school, built in 1837, that was located on the corner of Midlothian and Route 176 during the time when Mundelein was known as Mechanics Grove, Illinois.
